The bridge span elevation view reveals a tapered soffit of the deck sections. This design allowed for structural efficiencies, savings in weight for erection, and thus savings in materials and cost.
The proposed precast footing sockets were reinforced by extending steel into pile cap (cast-in-place) are used to develop fixed-end connection of pier columns to pile cap footing. Socket dimensions allow tolerance for column placement and finally space between socket and column is filled with high strength fine aggregate concrete.
